  1. DELHI.
Welcome to Delhi, the capital of modern India. Delhi is a magnetic blend of old and new boasting a fascinating array of sights, from elegant shops and lively bazaars to impressive forts and mosques that were once the power-base for India's Mughal emperors. On arrival in Delhi you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel where the afternoon is free for you to relax or start exploring. This evening, meet your Tour Director for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (D)

  2. DELHI.
Your day starts with a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi including a CYCLE RICKSHAW RIDE. See the splendid 17th century Mughal Red Fort before visiting landmarks such as RAJ GHAT and the majestic three-domed JAMA MASJID, the largest mosque in Asia. Experience a walk in the alleys of CHANDNI CHOWK and later, visit the ancient stepwell AGRASEN KI BAOLI, which has 103 steps and a series of carved chambers and passages. This afternoon, enjoy New Delhi's major sights including the towering QUTAB MINAR, ancient tomb of the Emperor Humayun, then a drive past the grand India Gate war memorial, Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan. (B)

  3. DELHI - MANDAWA.
Depart Delhi for the busy market town of Mandawa, famed for its intricately painted havelis - the ornate mansions of India's merchants and temples. Admire the splendid views over Mandawa from its fortress-topped hill, before an afternoon visit to the havelis. (B)

  4. MANDAWA - BIKANER.
Travel to Bikaner and take a tour of the massive JUNAGARH FORTRESS, a formidable complex housing 37 pavilions, mirrored palaces and exquisitely decorated balconies, chapels and courtyards. Stroll the local bazaars and enjoy a local savoury in the `snack capital' of India. (B)

  5. BIKANER - JODHPUR.
Travel to Jodhpur, once one of India's princely states. Set in the sand dunes of the Thar Desert, Jodhpur's mesmerising old city is ringed by a 10-kilometre, eight-gated wall outside of which the new city stands. Brimming with enchanting palaces, temples, havelis and a beautiful fort, this imperious city exudes grandeur and warm hospitality. Your accommodation this evening is approximately one hour from the city in a hotel that has been home to generations of noblemen from 1622 AD and has now been lovingly developed into a classified Heritage Hotel. (B)

  6. JODHPUR.
Marvel at the grand palaces of Jodhpur's MEHRANGARH FORT. Admire the splendid JASWANT SINGH II MEMORIAL, beautifully constructed from thin marble sheets that allow sunlight to filter in and enjoy a turban tying demonstration. Later, take a SAFARI to visit the local Bishnoi tribes of the desert. These communities of nature lovers protect endangered plant and tree species and prohibit poachers from killing animals. (B)

  7. JODHPUR - RANAKPUR - UDAIPUR.
This morning visit the spectacular JAIN TEMPLES en route to Udaipur. On arrival in Udaipur the remainder of the day is at leisure. Known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur is built around three lakes and is made up from a maze of narrow lanes, exquisite palaces, pavilions and gardens. (B)

  8. UDAIPUR.

This fortress-palace has a sombre exterior that hides a richly ornate interior of royal apartments, including an alabaster Hall of Victory and a superb Chamber of Mirrors. Explore the ANOKHI MUSEUM and the CITY PALACE MUSEUM, with its collection of paintings, carpets, weapons and costumes, then enjoy time at the bustling markets of the old city. (B) NOTE: Museum visit subject to opening times.

  11. JAIPUR - FATEHPUR SIKRI - AGRA.
En-route to Agra this morning, stop at FATEHPUR SIKRI, an abandoned city. Continue to Agra and see the intricate art of pietre dura or marble inlay. (B)

  12. AGRA - DELHI.
